From the very beginning Ten80 Education has explored the intersection of STEM and sports to bring learning to life and grow the next generation of innovators.  In this time of COVID-19, because many events are canceled, sports teams are working in new ways with gaming companies to generate the spectator experiences we crave! 

Ten80 Education’s team hosted Dalton Kellett, an IndyCar Driver, and Eric Hudec, an iRacing engineer, on a zoom call. This is part of the On Track & Up to Speed video series that looks behind the curtain at today’s innovative mashup of sports and eSports during this time of COVID-19. Listen in on this conversation that includes insights on:

  • how drivers compete when they can’t visit the tracks;
  • how simulators work and how simulated experiences are created;
  • the different skills involved on teams that create iRacing environments; and
  • concepts like data collection, math modeling , and physics that are fundamental to success in racing and in eSports.
